The service I couldn't find

I'm Stewart. I manage rental properties here in the Metroplex, and Drum & Gasket exists because I ran into the same problem at home and at work.

I couldn't find a company that specialized in actually deep cleaning the machine — not repairing it, not wiping it down, and not dropping a tablet in the drum. So I built the service I was looking for.

At home it was my own washer. Mold in the door gasket. Buildup in the detergent dispenser. I'd done everything you're told to do: left the door ajar, cut back the detergent, skipped the fabric softener, run hot cycles. It kept coming back, and eventually it started showing up on our clothes.

That's when it stopped being an annoyance. The machine whose entire job was to clean our clothes wasn't clean itself.

So I went looking for someone to pay. Not a repair company, because nothing was broken. Not a house cleaner, because they clean around the machine. I wanted somebody to open the serviceable parts, clean the places I couldn't reach, and put everything back properly.

There wasn't one. Not in a metro of eight million people.

Meanwhile I was watching the same thing play out in units I manage. Tenant reports the washer smells. Maintenance goes out, finds nothing broken, closes the ticket. Nothing changes, because nothing was broken. The machine needed to be deep cleaned by someone who knew where to look. And there was nobody to call.

Front-loaders create a particular cleaning problem. The gasket holds moisture, detergent residue collects in places you can't see, and components like the drain ports, the dispenser system and the pump filter aren't touched by a normal wipe-down.

It deserved a real service instead of another tub of tablets. So I built one.

The method isn't improvised

I spent time working out what actually belongs in this process: which tools reach deep into a gasket fold, which products remove buildup without leaving unnecessary residue behind, and where commercial steam does real work — and where it doesn't belong.

What came out of that is our 14-point deep clean. Every Drum & Gasket technician follows the same process, in the same order, on every machine. Not a wipe-down and a hopeful cycle. A system.

What that means in practice

We do one thing, and we do it properly. We don't repair machines, sell parts, or show up looking for something else to bill you for. We deep clean washing machines.

Every job ends with a full leak test, before-and-after photographs, and a written service report showing what we found and anything that needs your attention.

If you manage rental property and deal with this across multiple units, call me. That's the problem I came from.

Every job
